Primary Subject Knowledge Enhancement Programme

NEW DATES COMING SOON FOR 2020/2021

A 3 session programme for teachers to develop enhanced mathematics subject knowledge with a particular emphasis on mathematical structures.

This subject knowledge programme is aimed at primary teachers and will enable them to understand, teach and support pupils in mathematics in the classroom.

A key focus will be on not only improving the participants’ ability to “do” mathematics but also to ensure they have the appropriate pedagogical knowledge to teach their pupils well. Subject knowledge needs to be linked to pedagogy.

By getting involved, participants and their schools will:

  • enhance their maths subject knowledge with an emphasis on the key structures in each mathematical area covered
  • understand the key elements that form number sense, forms of addition and subtraction, forms of multiplication and division, and forms of fractions, including precise language, structures and representations
  • review their practice as a result of the sessions and make specific adaptations to impact on pupil outcomes.

Training Dates & Times

The FREE programme consists of 3 separate training sessions. Applications for this popular programme will re-open in September 2020.
