New CPD opportunity for non-specialists teaching secondary maths

NW1 Maths Hub are thrilled to be involved in delivering a brand new Maths Hub programme.

This term, a programme designed to upskill non-specialists teaching maths in secondary schools is launching. The programme, ‘Specialist Knowledge for Teaching Mathematics – Secondary Non-specialists’, is for anyone who has maths lessons on their timetable, but who did not train as a maths teacher.

Aligned with the pedagogy behind teaching for mastery, the new programme will enable participants to explore six key themes: structure of the number system; operating on number; multiplicative reasoning; sequences and graphs; statistics and probability; and geometry. Working collaboratively with peers, and with expert input from an experienced secondary maths practitioner, participants will improve their subject, curriculum and pedagogical knowledge.
