FREE SECONDARY AND LEVEL 3 MATHS CONFERENCE: 30th June 9.30-12.00
We invite all Heads of Departments and maths teachers within our 5 LA boroughs (Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale and Stockport) to attend a free online maths conference on 30th June 2021.
As we move forward from the pandemic, we look at why it is more critical than ever that students develop a deep mathematical understanding.
In addition to our fantastic keynote speakers from NCETM and The Derby High School, we are running taster workshops on Teaching for Mastery, Developing Mathematical Thinking, Transition and Multiplicative reasoning and Level 3 maths.

10.00-11.00 Workshop sessions
Developing Mathematical thinking year 7-11: Looking at contextualising problem solving for deeper mathematical thinking. How do we develop deeper mathematical understanding?
Teaching for mastery: What is it? Is it all mixed ability? How will my community/school benefit? We look at the 5 big ideas of mastery, variation and how the professional learning community supports the mastery journey. Presented by Martin Scott, Trinity High School and Vanessa Wahed, CHS South
Level 3 maths: the new challenges and the strategies we can implement to best meet the needs of our students at GCSE, Core Maths, A level and post 16.
